Although emphasis is placed on recovering from your injury through natural processes and rehabilitation, medication has a role in some cases. Sometimes medication helps facilitate or potentiate the treatment regimen and in this context can be considered a ‘supplemental’ in nature. If felt to be advantageous by our team, you may be offered medication to help your recovery. The MDs will present you with the potential benefits and adverse effects you may encounter with any recommended medication. They will educate you about how they see it fitting in to your treatment regimen, monitoring that may be required and the expected duration you will be using the medication. The ultimate decision to use medication remains yours and we will consider to support you via non-pharmacological strategies if you feel unsure about medication at that time.
When we do recommend medication, it is usually in the setting of improving: mood, sleep, energy, focus, dizziness, headaches and pain. We make the recommendation to your GP who will render another opinion based in the context of your past medical history with his/her office. We work with your GP to come up with the best medical strategy that you too feel comfortable with.
